Adam began his companioning/care journey in the Fall of 2010 when he shifted his residence from Key Largo, Florida to Bellport, New York to care for Harry Waywell, his 80 year old grandfather. In addition to basic care giving, Adam and Harry enjoyed an active lifestyle including travel to visit Grand kids in Boston, fishing off the South Shore near Shinnecock Inlet, and driving out to Montauk Lighthouse.

His journey in caretaking evolved into a 9 year commitment to St. John’s Church in Cold Spring Harbor as the custodian or caretaker of the building and grounds. Responsibilities included supporting hospitality, weddings, baptisms, and the social events hosted throughout the program year. This work within an elder church community prompted him to look close at a career in companion care.

My hope is that Companion Care by Adam will grow through continued support and care for the Elder Community on the North Shore of Long Island.
